From Nappies to Toileting: A Journey of Success

Within this blog we share a five year olds struggle with toileting, only pooing at home, in a nappy. This shares how progress is possible

When a family reached out for help with their five year old daughter, they were feeling stuck and overwhelmed. The young girl was only pooing at home in a nappy, standing and refusing to sit on the toilet. At school, she held in her poos all day, experiencing discomfort and frustration. The family were unsure of where to start or how to help their daughter move forward, feeling like they had "tried everything".

Through a step by step approach, Charmaine at Clear Steps Consultancy worked closely with the young girl, her family, and her school. Together, uncovering the underlying reasons behind her challenges and used visual tools to help her understand what to do. A consistent plan between home and school ensured she felt safe and supported. Gradually, she built the confidence to sit on the toilet, and with time, stopped wearing nappies altogether.

Today this amazing young girl is confidently passing poos in the toilet every day, a true success! Her family shared:
